Founder & President
Michael J. Martin, MD, MPH, MBA
Dr. Michael Martin is the Founder & President of Physicians Against Red Meat (PhARM). In this role, Dr. Martin provides visionary and governance leadership to advance the organization’s vision and mission. A distinguished leader in healthcare, Dr. Martin has served as President & CEO of multiple organizations focused on quality improvement and cost containment, shaping policies and practices that have had widespread impact. In addition to his leadership roles, Dr. Martin is an Associate Clinical Professor at the University of California, San Francisco, in the Department of Epidemiology & Biostatistics. His groundbreaking research spans the cardiovascular risks of passive smoking, the links between cholesterol and heart disease, the aging effects of sunlight on skin, and the overuse of antibiotics in animal agriculture. Dr. Martin is the Immediate Past President of Physicians for Social Responsibility (PSR), a Washington, DC-based nonprofit addressing climate change and nuclear weapons risks. He is also a longtime advocate for food security, serving as a former board member and current Development Committee member of Bread for the World, a leading national nonprofit combating hunger domestically and globally. Dr. Martin earned his MD from the University of Chicago and completed an Internal Medicine residency at Yale University. He further specialized in preventive medicine at the University of California, Berkeley, where he earned both an MPH and MBA. He also completed a clinical epidemiology fellowship at the University of California, San Francisco.

Executive Director
Tyler Cobb, MPH
Tyler Cobb is the Executive Director of Physicians Against Red Meat (PhARM), where he drives strategy, advocacy, and organizational growth to reduce red meat consumption for healthier people and a healthier planet. Previously, Tyler served as PhARM's Director of Research & Programs, where he directed multidisciplinary research efforts and advanced the organization’s advocacy agenda. Before joining PhARM, he held project management roles at The Prysm Institute—an international accelerator in healthcare, technology, and life sciences—and at Umoja Health, where he advanced initiatives expanding equitable access to medically and culturally tailored nutrition. Tyler brings extensive experience in research and public policy, with a focus on leveraging the One Health approach to address complex health challenges, improve food safety, and advance alternative proteins as innovative solutions for public health and environmental sustainability. Tyler holds a Master of Public Health in Environmental Health from The George Washington University and a Bachelor of Arts from California Baptist University.

Research & Program Associate
Parker Brumbaugh
Parker Brumbaugh is a Research & Program Associate at Physicians Against Red Meat (PhARM), where he contributes to advancing knowledge on the health and environmental impacts of red meat consumption. Drawing on an academic background in microbiology, Parker translates complex research findings into issue analyses, reports, and materials that support PhARM’s advocacy and education efforts. Over the past few years, Parker has focused his studies on microbiological phenomena and current issues related to red meat, with an emphasis on pathogen-related challenges inherent to its production and consumption. His expertise in microbial sciences strengthens PhARM’s commitment to advancing evidence-based science and addressing public misconceptions. He is dedicated to communicating accurate, research-driven information that supports PhARM’s mission to reduce red meat consumption for healthier people and a healthier planet. Parker is currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in microbiology at the University of California, Riverside.

Education & Research
Melissa Davies-Cole
Melissa Davies-Cole is a Research Intern at Physicians Against Red Meat (PhARM), where she contributes to research and advocacy on the health impacts of red meat consumption. In her role, she supports evidence-based, nutrition-focused approaches that promote both human and optimal well-being, with an emphasis on health equity. Melissa’s academic and professional experiences center on advancing public health research and advocacy through a health equity lens, with particular attention to the social determinants driving population health outcomes. As a Reducetarian Fellow alumna, she engaged in interdisciplinary work focused on ending factory farming, and its relationship to public health systems, deepening her understanding of the intersections between red meat consumption, chronic disease, environmental sustainability, and population health. This perspective informs her contributions to PhARM’s science-driven research and advocacy efforts. Melissa holds a Bachelor of Science in Public Health from The George Washington University and is currently pursuing a Master of Public Health in Epidemiology at GWU. She is preparing for medical school with the long-term goal of becoming a physician who delivers compassionate, patient-centered care while advancing health equity through community engagement and evidence-based public health interventions.

Rafael González
Rafael González supports research and education at Physicians Against Red Meat (PhARM), where he leverages his trilingual abilities and cultural expertise to help amplify the organization’s messaging across diverse communities. With over a decade of experience in cross-cultural communication and education, Rafael brings a unique perspective to PhARM's advocacy work. His background as a cultural educator and language instructor has equipped him with exceptional skills in translating complex health and environmental concepts into accessible, culturally relevant content. Rafael is a professor in Middle Education and Educational Administration from the Universidad de San Carlos de Guatemala and is certified in Bilingual Intercultural Primary Education. He is fluent in Tz'utujil, Spanish, and English, enabling PhARM to reach broader audiences with its mission of promoting personal and planetary health.

Consultant
Christin Light
Christin Light serves as a Consultant at Physicians Against Red Meat (PhARM), bringing expertise in learning design and data analytics to develop strategic initiatives and campaigns that advance the organization's mission. With a proven track record of creating learning programs that have reached over 1 million learners, Light excels at making complex concepts accessible to diverse audiences. Drawing from 15+ years in education and technical training, Light implements a data-driven approach to PhARM's advocacy work. A background as a Senior Learning & Development Consultant and Data Analyst has provided the skills to design value-driven programs that translate into measurable results. Before joining PhARM, Light worked with multiple nonprofits, Fortune companies and healthcare organizations, designing enterprise-scale training programs and implementing solutions generating average annual cost savings of $15M+. Based between Minnesota and Guatemala, Light has co-founded two non-profits, including the Maya-led Asociación Tz'unun Ya'.

Education & Research
Aagney Menon, MS
Aagney Menon is a Researcher at Physicians Against Red Meat (PhARM), where he supports research on the health and environmental impacts of red meat consumption through data-driven analysis. He applies his background in engineering and analytics to evaluate the full-system consequences of industrial meat supply chains, contributing to PhARM’s efforts to promote personal and planetary health. Before joining PhARM, Aagney conducted LCA-focused research at Monash University and worked as a Research Analyst at Cactus Communications, where he reviewed technical manuscripts across process engineering and environmental sustainability. He also explored optimization models for supply chains at the University of Maryland, reinforcing his interdisciplinary approach to systems-level challenges. His experience with environmental data, process modeling, and LCA tools allows him to rigorously assess emissions, resource use, and health outcomes associated with industrial food production. Aagney holds a Master of Science in Business Analytics from the University of Maryland and a Bachelor of Engineering in Chemical Engineering from Monash University.

Marketing & Communications
Peter Rodriguez
Peter Rodriguez is a dynamic digital communications professional who supports marketing and communications at Physicians Against Red Meat (PhARM). In this role, he assists in developing and implementing strategic communication efforts across various digital platforms to promote organizational programs, increase brand awareness, and boost engagement. With nearly eight years of experience as a seasoned video editor, Peter has honed his talent for creating captivating social media content. His expertise lies in leveraging digital experiences to engage audiences and elevate brand success. Peter's deep understanding of storytelling, combined with his creative flair, allows him to produce compelling visuals that leave a lasting impact. Peter is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in film at University of California, Riverside and holds an associate’s degree in film and television production from Antelope Valley College.
