Founder & President
Michael J. Martin, MD, MPH, MBA
Dr. Michael Martin is the Founder & President of Physicians Against Red Meat (PhARM). In this role, Dr. Martin provides visionary and governance leadership to advance the organization’s vision and mission. A distinguished leader in healthcare, Dr. Martin has served as President & CEO of multiple organizations focused on quality improvement and cost containment, shaping policies and practices that have had widespread impact. In addition to his leadership roles, Dr. Martin is an Associate Clinical Professor at the University of California, San Francisco, in the Department of Epidemiology & Biostatistics. His groundbreaking research spans the cardiovascular risks of passive smoking, the links between cholesterol and heart disease, the aging effects of sunlight on skin, and the overuse of antibiotics in animal agriculture. Dr. Martin is the Immediate Past President of Physicians for Social Responsibility (PSR), a Washington, DC-based nonprofit addressing climate change and nuclear weapons risks. He is also a longtime advocate for food security, serving as a former board member and current Development Committee member of Bread for the World, a leading national nonprofit combating hunger domestically and globally. Dr. Martin earned his MD from the University of Chicago and completed an Internal Medicine residency at Yale University. He further specialized in preventive medicine at the University of California, Berkeley, where he earned both an MPH and MBA. He also completed a clinical epidemiology fellowship at the University of California, San Francisco.

Pediatrician
Thomas Newman, MD, MPH
Dr. Thomas Newman is Professor Emeritus at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), in both the Department of Epidemiology & Biostatistics and the Department of Pediatrics. His research deploys methods of epidemiology to investigate clinical issues in pediatrics, such as jaundice and infections in newborn babies, urinary tract infections and cholesterol screening. Dr. Newman has a long-term interest in teaching clinical research methods and is coauthor of two textbooks: Designing Clinical Research (4th edition, by Stephen Hulley et al) and Evidence-Based Diagnosis (with Dr. Michael Kohn, 2nd edition forthcoming). He has published/co-published over 100 medical research articles in key journals. Dr. Newman received his M.D. from the School of Medicine, University of California in San Diego, and completed a residency at UCSF.

Gastroenterologist
Todd L. Sack, MD, FACP
Dr. Todd Sack is a national and international expert on issues related to health, climate change and energy policy. He serves on the Board of Directors of Physicians for Social Responsibility (PSR) and was twice appointed by Sen. Rubio to the Florida state Energy Commission where he chaired the Climate Change Advisory Group. Dr. Sack edits www.MyGreenDoctor.org, a free service for medical offices and outpatient facilities. It brings topics of climate change and environmental sustainability to health professionals and patients. This service has been used in 46 countries and 33 US states. Dr. Sack has practiced gastroenterology for 30+ years and is Medical Director for “We Care at Borland-Groover Clinic” caring for the uninsured. Dr. Sack attended Yale College and graduated with honors from the University of California, San Francisco School of Medicine.

Executive Director
Tyler Cobb, MPH
Tyler Cobb is the Executive Director of Physicians Against Red Meat (PhARM), where he spearheads the organization’s efforts to promote its vision and mission. Prior to joining PhARM, Tyler worked as a Project Manager for The Prysm Institute, an international healthcare, life science, and technology business accelerator. Concurrently, he was a Researcher at Umoja Supply Chain Solutions in their Food For Health division, an organization united in the fight for equity and expanding access to medically- and culturally-tailored, nutritious food. Tyler holds a Master of Public Health in Climate and Health from The George Washington University and a Bachelor of Arts from California Baptist University.

Communications Consultant
Rafael González
Rafael González serves as a Communications Consultant at Physicians Against Red Meat (PhARM), where he leverages his trilingual abilities and cultural expertise to amplify the organization's messaging across diverse communities. With over a decade of experience in cross-cultural communication and education, Rafael brings a unique perspective to PhARM's advocacy work. His background as a cultural educator and language instructor has equipped him with exceptional skills in translating complex health and environmental concepts into accessible, culturally relevant content. Rafael is a professor in Middle Education and Educational Administration from the Universidad de San Carlos de Guatemala and is certified in Bilingual Intercultural Primary Education. He is fluent in Tz'utujil, Spanish, and English, enabling PhARM to reach broader audiences with its mission of promoting personal and planetary health.

Strategy Consultant
Christin Light
Christin Light serves as a Strategy Consultant at Physicians Against Red Meat (PhARM), bringing expertise in learning design and data analytics to develop strategic initiatives and campaigns that advance the organization's mission. With a proven track record of creating learning programs that have reached over 1 million learners, Light excels at making complex concepts accessible to diverse audiences. Drawing from 15+ years in education and technical training, Light implements a data-driven approach to PhARM's advocacy work. A background as a Senior Learning & Development Consultant and Data Analyst has provided the skills to design value-driven programs that translate into measurable results. Before joining PhARM, Light worked with multiple nonprofits, Fortune companies and healthcare organizations, designing enterprise-scale training programs and implementing solutions generating average annual cost savings of $15M+. Based between Minnesota and Guatemala, Light has co-founded two non-profits, including the Maya-led Asociación Tz'unun Ya'.

Communications & Administrative Specialist
Jennevive Ortiz
Jennevive Ortiz is the Communications & Administrative Specialist at Physicians Against Red Meat (PhARM). In this role, she develops and executes strategic marketing and communications initiatives that advance PhARM’s mission and amplify its impact. She oversees content creation and management across the website, social media, newsletters, and digital campaigns, ensuring clarity, consistency, and meaningful engagement with stakeholders. Beyond communications, Jennevive provides essential administrative support, including scheduling, email and database management, task coordination, and event logistics. She also assists leadership with special projects, acts as a primary point of contact for inquiries, and designs reports, presentations, and materials for internal and external use. With a background in digital marketing, graphic design, SEO, and multimedia content production, Jennevive brings a creative and organized approach to both communications and operational support. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education, major in Filipino, and is currently pursuing her Master’s degree in Education.

Research Analyst
Clarence Mapenzauswa
Clarence Mapenzauswa is a Research Analyst at Physicians Against Red Meat (PhARM), where he leverages data analysis, environmental research, and technical communication to evaluate the health, climatic, and environmental impacts of red meat consumption. His role involves synthesizing complex research findings into actionable insights for advocacy campaigns, educational materials, and policy recommendations, ensuring PhARM’s initiatives are grounded in evidence-based science. With an engineering and research background, Clarence has co-authored several peer-reviewed publications in areas including water engineering, and waste-to-energy solutions. His experience in working as a consultant and also research work, demonstrates his expertise in analyzing environmental systems and translating technical data into practical solutions. These skills directly align with PhARM’s mission, as his ability to dissect large datasets, conduct meta-analyses, and communicate findings equips him to address multifaceted challenges related to red meat’s impacts. His engineering training further strengthens his capacity to evaluate industrial processes and propose sustainable alternatives. Clarence holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering and is currently pursuing a Master of Philosophy in the same field, both at the University of Zimbabwe. His academic and professional focus on sustainable water resources management underscores his commitment to advancing equitable, evidence-driven environmental solutions.

Research Analyst
Aagney Menon, MS
Aagney Menon is a Research Analyst at Physicians Against Red Meat (PhARM), where he supports research on the health, climatic, and environmental impacts of red meat consumption through data-driven analysis. He applies his background in engineering and analytics to evaluate the full-system consequences of industrial meat supply chains, contributing to PhARM’s efforts to promote personal and planetary health. Before joining PhARM, Aagney conducted LCA-focused research at Monash University and worked as a Research Analyst at Cactus Communications, where he reviewed technical manuscripts across process engineering and environmental sustainability. He also explored optimization models for supply chains at the University of Maryland, reinforcing his interdisciplinary approach to systems-level challenges. His experience with environmental data, process modeling, and LCA tools allows him to rigorously assess emissions, resource use, and health outcomes associated with industrial food production. Aagney holds a Master of Science in Business Analytics from the University of Maryland and a Bachelor of Engineering in Chemical Engineering from Monash University.

Digital Communications Intern
Peter Rodriguez
Peter Rodriguez is a dynamic digital communications professional currently providing support at Physicians Against Red Meat (PhARM). In this role, he assists in developing and implementing strategic communication efforts across various digital platforms to promote organizational programs, increase brand awareness, and boost engagement. With nearly eight years of experience as a seasoned video editor, Peter has honed his talent for creating captivating social media content. His expertise lies in leveraging digital experiences to engage audiences and elevate brand success. Peter's deep understanding of storytelling, combined with his creative flair, allows him to produce compelling visuals that leave a lasting impact. Peter is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in film at University of California, Riverside and holds an associate’s degree in film and television production from Antelope Valley College.

Senior Advisor
Eugene Rosov
Eugene (Gene) Rosov serves as Senior Advisor for Physicians Against Red Meat (PhARM), providing strategic guidance. Gene has a diverse professional background. He previously led a water analysis company whose findings of significant lead contamination in American drinking water prompted his testimony before Congress and influenced national drinking water regulations. In 1990, he pioneered the prepaid phone card industry in the United States, and in 2000, he launched Talk Visual Corporation on NASDAQ, introducing internet-based videoconferencing technology. Currently, Gene heads a pharmaceutical development company dedicated to combating respiratory viral diseases such as COVID-19 and enhancing cognitive performance. Gene holds a bachelor's degree from Harvard College.

Research Intern
Parker Brumbaugh
Parker Brumbaugh is a Research Intern at Physicians Against Red Meat (PhARM), where he contributes to advancing knowledge on the health and environmental impacts of red meat consumption. Drawing on an academic background in microbiology, Parker translates complex research findings into issue analyses, reports, and materials that support PhARM’s advocacy and education efforts. Over the past few years, Parker has focused his studies on microbiological phenomena and current issues related to red meat, with an emphasis on pathogen-related challenges inherent to its production and consumption. His expertise in microbial sciences strengthens PhARM’s commitment to advancing evidence-based science and addressing public misconceptions. He is dedicated to communicating accurate, research-driven information that supports PhARM’s mission to promote personal and planetary health. Parker is currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in microbiology at the University of California, Riverside.
